Energy Conservation Course (ESC/107)

General Information

 

 

OBJECTIVES

This course is a collaboration between SJAB and SP Services (a member of Singapore Power Group).  The course, Energy Experience Programme aims to educate them on electricity efficiency with the interactive use of videos, quizzes and worksheets

 

 

COURSE REGISTRATION

This programme is open to all Secondary 1, 2 and 3 members but not for Secondary 4 and 5. Participants are required to complete Stage I before they are eligible for Stage II.

 

Teachers/officers-in-charge are required to register with the site and use the password provided to make the bookings.

Schools will receive a confirmation of the booking from SP Services via email.

 

Schools are required to submit the participants' list for each programme to SP Services via fax: 6823 8322 or email at eec@singaporepower.com.sg at least 1 month before the commencement of the programme.

 

If SP Services does not receive the participants' list, the slot booked will be cancelled and SP Services will allocate it to the next school on the waiting list.

COURSE INFORMATION

There are two stages to the course in order to achieve the Energy Conservation badge under the Cadet Proficiency Badge Scheme (CPBS):

 

Stage One Programme

The programme for Energy Experience Programme Stage 1 (EEP1) includes:

• Talks on "Efficient Use of Electricity At Home" and "Alternative Resources"

• Video shows

 

Stage I is conducted in two half-days. Upon completion, participants will be awarded with a certificate. An assignment on home electricity audit and test will be conducted. Students who pass the assignment and test will be awarded an Energy Badge.

 

Schools will be notified of the results through facsimile 3 weeks after the completion of the programme.

 

Stage Two Programme

The programme for Energy Experience Programme Stage 2 (EEP2) includes:

• Group discussion

• Presentation on energy

 

Students who have completed Stage I can proceed to Stage II. This is only a half-day programme.  Please make the booking for Stage II only after participants have passed Stage 1. 

 

Students are required to undertake a project which is to be submitted within 6 weeks' time. Certificates and badges will be awarded to all students upon completion of Stage II.

 

Schools will be notified of the results through facsimile 3 weeks after the project submission.

 

To qualify for the Energy Conservation Badge (ECS/107), participants must complete and pass BOTH Stage 1 and 2 of the course.

 

OTHER INFORMATION

The maximum number of participants for each class is 20.

 

To standardize the attire for all SJAB unit, all participants are to attend the classes in their SJAB T-shirt with school attire (meaning SJAB T-shirt with school skirt/pants).

 

Participants are required to bring their latest utilities bills with bar chart consumption (photocopies are acceptable) and a calculator to the class.

 

 

AWARD OF CERTIFICATES

The certificates and Stage One & Two badges will be awarded by SP Services.  The badges awarded are not to be worn on SJAB uniform.

 

 

POST COURSE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES

Upon receiving the certificates, schools will apply for the badges via the Mass Application using the CPB Management System.  Upon applying the applications online, schools must submit the results of the project (provided by EEC, Singapore Power) to the Zone CPB Officers for verification and their recommendation.

 

Zone CPB Officers can also decide whether to apply the Civil Defence Badge on behalf of all the schools.

 

Photocopy of results of Stage 1 & 2 must be submitted upon submission of the online applications.
