ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

The Civil Defence Course for 2009 is open.  Schools and Zone CPB officers are to adhere to the booking procedures.

OBJECTIVES

The Civil Defence Course is a collaboration between SJAB and SCDF, to provide members knowledge in Civil Defence skills such as fire fighting and emergency preparedness.  Members will undergo both theory and practical lessons, hoping to put them into practice in times of emergency both in school and at home.

 

 

COURSE DURATION & VENUE

This is a ONE-DAY COURSE and it will be held at HQ 4 CD Division, Bukit Batok Fire Station.  Please see the MAP for the location of the course venue.

 

The course duration is from 9am to 4pm.  Participants are required to report to the course venue by 8.45am.  Schools are to arrange transport on their own and arrive on time.

 

PRE-REQUISITE

With effect from 2009, members in Secondary Two and above are qualified to attend the Civil Defence Course.  This is in accordance to the rules set by Singapore Civil Defence Course (SCDF).

 

OTHER INFORMATION

Each session can only accommodate up to 80 participants.

 

Participants are expected to be dressed in their St John T-shirt / School T-shirt and track pants.  Participants are also to bring along their writing materials and enough money for lunch at their canteen.

 

Schools are to ensure that there are teachers accompanying the participants at the course venue to take care of attendance and discipline.  Schools without accompanying officers and teachers will be taken care by SCDF officers and other officers / teachers present.

COURSE CONTENT & ASSESSMENT

At the end of the course, participants will be tested on theory assessment (MCQ) and some basic practical first aid skills (similar to those learnt in SJAB).

 

 

AWARD OF CERTIFICATES

Upon completion of the course, certificate of participation will be issued to participants on the day of the course.  Teachers / officers accompanying are to acknowledge the receipt of the certificates.

 

Schools without accompanying teachers or officers will not receive the certificates.  The certificates will be dispatched to their school.  SJAB and SCDF will keep a copy of the acknowledgement slips.

 

This arrangement is to ensure that schools receive the certificates and there will be no replacement should the certificates be misplaced.

 

 

POST COURSE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES

Upon receiving the certificates, schools will apply for the badges via the Mass Application using the CPB Management System.  Upon applying the applications online, schools will submit the photocopied certificates of the applicants to the Zone CPB Officers for verification and their recommendation.

 

Zone CPB Officers can also decide whether to apply the Civil Defence Badge on behalf of all the schools.
